The idea of working at home is very appealing. Imagine not having to get up so early and driving to the workplace whilst battling through traffic in the dark, wet conditions on a rainy monday morning. Picture a working the day without the stress of the boss overlooking your every move.
But working from home does not come without its own issues as well which need to be carefully considered.
Working from home requires a lot of determination, motivation and willpower to get the work done. You'll be your own boss which means managing your time in a professional and efficient manner.
You'll also need to extend your skills to other areas including book keeping to keep your accounts and tax returns in order.
Other things to consider include whether or not working at home is for you. Some people find it lonely, especially if they enjoyed the social aspect of previously working in an office or other public environment. Others might have a lot to juggle at home and if they are working at home because of children, it might affect the amount of work they are able to complete, both because of distractions and because of space.
These considerations should always be taken into account. However if these can be overcome, you might find working at home a fulfilling and very rewarding experience.
